How to install Foxit Reader on Debian 9 Stretch

This tutorial show you how to install Foxit Reader on Debian 9.

The software is available in both 32bit and 64bit for Window, Linux, Mac OS system… If your systems support 64bit software, you should download that.

Step 1: Download the archive file from Foxit homepage.

From the link website, you can download directly the archive file.

Then, open the terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T. When it opens, navigate to the Download folder

<br />cd Download

Then extract the archive file with command

<br />tar -xvf FoxitReader*.tar.gz

Install Foxit Reader

Now you’ve downloaded and extracted the software archive, run the command below to begin installing it.

<br />sudo ./FoxitReader*.64bit.run

That should open the installation wizard, accept the default path and license terms and continue.

After brief moment, Foxit Reader should be installed and ready to use.

Search Foxit Reader in Activities Overview and run the program.

Creating an Application launcher icon for android studio in linux

First, create Desktop Entry file in folder applications.

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/android-studio.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=Android Studio
Exec="/usr/local/android-studio/bin/studio.sh" %f
Icon=/usr/local/android-studio/bin/studio.png
Categories=Development;IDE;
Terminal=false
StartupNotify=true
StartupWMClass=jetbrains-android-studio

Save the file with change the path Exec and Icon. To test the launcher works, first close the current Android Studio and find the launcher like Window + A search with keyword Android Studio and Enter. If not, check your Desktop Entry file again.

Move legacy tray icons (bottom left) to top panel in Gnome shell

With some of version Gnome shell, there are display the legacy tray icon on bottom left, to change it to top panel, we have to use extension of gnome. In first, we will use extension Toplcons Plus, go to the link https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1031/topicons/ and download Toplons Plus. After turn on the Toplcons Plus, the legacy tray icons will change to the top panel immediately.

Then, you could customize the extension. Go to https://extensions.gnome.org/local/ where is show all the extensions have been installed in your gnome shell, select the icon config to modifies extension.
